Basil Tzatziki Sauce Recipe

As you might notice from our website, we LOVE Greece! But we love their cuisine as well. Some of our favorite summer Greek recipes are definitely Tzatziki Sauce and Greek Salad. Today we are going to show you how you can make Tzatziki sauce using basil instead of dill.

Dill is not everyone’s favorite herb, it has a very specific smell, and kids usually don’t like it. Having that in mind, we changed the original recipe by using basil instead. Fresh basil is one of our favorite herbs, it gives such a nice flavor to any meal, especially fresh sauces like this Basil Tzatziki Sauce Recipe.
Basil Tzatziki Sauce
This amazing sauce goes perfectly with any meal. Out top choice is definitely Chicken Mushroom Moussaka. It can be used as a salad dressing as well, you have to try, it gives any salad such a great flavor. 




 

Please note that this recipe contains dairy. If you want a vegan version of this recipe, try using vegan Greek yogurt instead.

Best Tzatziki Sauce

INGREDIENTS

  • 21.2 oz (600 g) fresh cucumber
  • 14.1 oz (400 g) plain Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
  • juice of half a medium-size lemon
  • pinch of salt

INSTRUCTIONS

  • After wash and grating cucumbers, lightly squeeze it between your palm over a bowl or sink to remove excess water. Set aside.  
  • Finally Chopp fresh basil and prepare lemon juice by squeezing half a lemon.
  • In a large mixing bowl, add Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, basil, lemon, and a pinch of salt. Stir everything until combined. garnish with some fresh basil and serve. Enjoy your Basil Tzatziki Sauce Recipe.
