Crispy Pan-Fried Tofu

If you don’t like tofu, then you haven’t tried the right kind :). Ever since I started eating more plant-based, and giving my best to go completely vegan, tofu is a must-have ingredient. The first tofu I bought was smoked and had some other ingredients inside that I didn’t like. So I claimed myself not a tofu fan. Then I bought natural tofu and used it in several different recipes, which we’ll share with you in our future posts, and this Crispy Pan-Fried Tofu recipe is an absolute winner.

Even if you hate tofu, you’ll love this one. Darko is not a huge fan of soy products, but he liked this recipe!
Crispy Pan Fried Tofu
Even if you don’t have any cooking experience you’ll be able to make this recipe. It’s super easy, all you have to do is to cube cut the tofu, add spices and soy sauce, and fry! That’s it! :). We suggest you serve it with wild rice, and some fresh vegetables like we did.

Pan Fried Tofu
Prep time: 2 min   Cook time: 5-7 min   Total: 7-9 min   Servings: 2-3




 

 

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 natural tofu block (350 g)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce or tamari
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (or less)
  • salt to taste

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Remove tofu from a plastic bag. Drain all the liquid. Use paper towels to pat dry your tofu. We prefer removing all the liquids to get the perfectly crispy texture later when frying. 
  • When dry, cut into bite-size cubes or any size cubes you prefer. In a large bowl add cubed tofu, salt and soy sauce (or tamari). Stir gently until cubes are completely covered with the sauce. Use silicone or wooden spoon, those won’t damage the tofu.
  • In a large pan over medium to high heat, add olive oil, and then add tofu. Make sure that you form one layer of tofu cubes, don’t add too many of them if they cannot fit in the pan. Stir fry until they are golden brown. Fry 2-3 minutes each side.
