Best Latte Macchiato Recipe
Maybe you haven’t heard, but Latte Macchiato means “stained milk”. This delicious coffee recipe originates from Italy – it wasn’t hard to guess! What makes this recipe stunning is 3 layers structure: milk at the bottom, coffee in the middle, and foam on top. It’s absolutely amazing!

This classical Italian coffee recipe is usually served with breakfast, but you can enjoy it any time during the day. We usually drink it in the afternoon. Cinnamon, syrups, or even chocolate may be added for some extra flavor or sweetness. Our top pick is always cinnamon!

Prep time: 2 min   Cook time: 8 min   Total: 10 min   Servings: 1

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1.7 fl oz (50 ml) espresso coffee (we use Illy Espresso Medium Roast or Lavazza Qualita Rossa)
  • about 5.75 fl oz (170 ml) semi-skimmed milk (3.2%) (refrigerator temperature)

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Preparing latte: If you have a coffee machine with nozzle follow the instructions: Add milk into a pitcher and using a nozzle turn on the steam knob and start steaming. Rotate the steam knob to adjust the amount of steam you are adding to the milk. The milk will start to increase its volume. Heat until the desired temperature. Transfer the milk into a tall glass. If you don’t have a coffee machine, use a milk frother to make a foam, but make sure to heat the milk before you do that. But we recommend using a machine for this recipe.
  • Prepare a strong espresso using a coffee machine.
  • When espresso is ready pour it directly over frothed milk. It will form 3 layers. Use a long teaspoon to stir and blend it into the milk and coffee! 🙂
  • We haven’t used any sweetener – feel free to add if you like sweet coffee.
  • Enjoy your Latte Macchiato!
