Green Pea Hummus Recipe

Hummus has become extremely popular last couple of years! It’s not only its delicious taste and creamy texture that people love. Hummus is way more then just that! We love hummus so much and we are seeking for new flavors all the time. For today’s recipe we have one amazing Green Pea Hummus Recipe that made to our top 3 hummuses ever!

Green pea hummus is light, refreshing, and gives this amazing dip a sweet flavor. This is my personal favorite hummus for dipping with fresh vegetables! 
Green Pea Hummus
Did you know that peas are great source of vitamin A, C, E and zinc? They can help in reducing inflammation and can lower the risk of getting diabetes, arthritis, and other chronic conditions. If you are not a huge fan of peas, by adding some chickpeas and making a peas hummus could be a great way to incorporate this amazing veggie into your diet.

Peas Hummus Recipe
Prep time: 5 min   Cook time: 15 min   Total: 20 min   Servings: 4-6




 

 

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup (about 130 g) cooked green peas
  • 1/2 cup (85 g) cooked chickpeas (or canned)
  • 3 tablespoons Tahini
  • juice of 1 small lemon
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (or one fresh garlic clove)
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 2 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil

INSTRUCTIONS

  • For this recipe you’ll need cooked/canned chickpeas (instructions) and cooked green peas.
  • How to cook green peas: add peas into a pot with 3 cups water. Bring water to boil and cook for 15 minutes! Drain and set aside.
  • When chickpeas and green peas are cooked let them cool at a room temperature.
  • Add all the ingredients into a food processor blend for about 1 minute or a bit more until smooth. If the mixture is too dry or you want creamier consistency, you can add 1 teaspoon of Tahini or olive oil or water.
  • Transfer the mixture to a prepared jar or another dish. Let it sit in a fridge for at least one hour. Garnish with some peas on top.
